These informations refer to the sample AppleScript scripts included with the package and apply to both the DocBreaker and the DocAssembler applications.
Do I need to become a programmer to use this feature?
No. The samples try to show all the things you can do with the scripting features of this application, so don't let them overawe you, your usual scripts could be much simpler.
AppleScript is a real powerful tool and allows an incremental approach, so have a look at it.
To completely answer to the above question, everybody knows that real programmers use FORTRAN on mainframes, so there is no risk.
Is this behaviour normal?
When you try to run the scripts and the target application is not running yet, AppleScript will launch it. If you are using an unregistered copy, the usual startup screen will be shown, because the application is responding to the very same "open application" event that it receives when you double click on its icon.
Upon receiving other instructions from the running script, the application will perform normally, although the startup screen will stay there and won't let you quit until you dismiss it.
This small inconvenience is perfectly normal and does not compromise the operation in any way, apart from slowing things down. It will disappear if you register.
